Additional improvements to My Portfolio were released this month in the AAII Investor Hub. These include relocating some functions to make them more accessible, improving custom views, refreshing the notifications panel and adding an alert history, and integrating AAII’s model portfolios into My Portfolio.
You’ll notice changes to the placement of some functions and tabs if you’ve been using the My Portfolio tool in the new Investor Hub. These updates were made to make navigation around the tool more smooth and intuitive.
Some extra features of My Portfolio that are exclusive to A+ Investor and AAII Platinum subscribers include A+ Grades, a Diversification Analyzer, Portfolio Insights and Portfolio Grade Alerts. These used to be separate pages at the top of the My Portfolio area in the Investor Hub, but since they apply to the specific portfolio you have loaded, they have been moved to tabs directly above the portfolio holdings table. You can now switch between these features more seamlessly.
See the My Portfolio User Guide for more details on these tabs. The Alerts section has undergone improvements, as explained below.
The top navigation bar is now reserved for portfolio-level actions: Overview, Modify Portfolio, Manage Alerts and Manage Views. A portfolio selector drop-down menu in the toolbar lets you switch between portfolios from any view without going back to the portfolio list.
The Custom View Builder has been significantly improved. Data fields in the builder are now grouped by category, with subtitles and informational popover boxes explaining each field. This makes it easier to locate the data you want to add to your custom view.
Additionally, a Manage Views page has been added at the top of My Portfolio. It provides a convenient one-page survey of all your custom views, including the fields you have saved for each view. Select the pencil icon to modify the fields in any view.
A Save As New option is now available, allowing you to duplicate any existing custom view under a new name without overwriting the original. Select the pencil icon next to the view name on the Views drop-down menu or the Manage Views page, and you’ll see the Save As New button at the lower-right corner of the Custom View Builder.
A new notifications bell now appears in the upper-right corner of the Investor Hub. A pulsing red dot on the bell icon appears whenever there are active alerts.
Click the bell icon to open a list of recent alerts for holdings in your portfolios. Price and grade change alerts are grouped by portfolio, with grade and daily price change percentages. Click any name to jump directly to that portfolio.
Below the Portfolio Alerts section, the notifications list includes a What’s New section showing the latest release summary of updates made to the Investor Hub. You’ll also see a Recommended For You section, which presents article suggestions.
Within your portfolios, you can now view the history of alerts for any of your holdings. Each alert entry is listed with its date, which grades changed and the daily price move, if any. Grade changes show color-coded A–F letters and directional arrows. Price changes show the new price, the difference from the previous day’s price and a directional arrow for quick viewing. Look for the bell icon at the far right on each holding row in your portfolio table to open the alert history list. Once you open a list, the red dot disappears to signify that you’ve viewed that history.
The settings panels for each portfolio in the Manage Alerts page has been refreshed to update the interface and resolve bugs. Changes to your alert settings now save automatically. Management of price and grade alerts remains the same.
We’ve integrated each of AAII’s model portfolios into My Portfolio. They appear within a dedicated section in your lists of portfolios, clearly separated from your personal portfolios. The Shadow Stocks portfolio is open to all members. If you subscribe to one or more of our premium portfolios—Dividend Investing, Growth Investing, Stock Superstars Report and/or VMQ Stocks—you’ll be able to open these portfolios. This enables you to conveniently check on the model portfolios in one place without having to go to each site.
The data columns presented for the model portfolios follow the specialized metrics used by each service. For example, the Shadow Stocks portfolio includes the price-to-book-value (P/B) ratio and market capitalization among its columns, while the Dividend Investing portfolio shows dividend yield and Dividend Grades among its columns.
You can toggle between the portfolio holdings list and the Ideas list for each portfolio.
If you’ve been intrigued by the ability to link your broker account to My Portfolio but are a bit wary, you can read detailed information about the security protocols in place at our Broker Integration Security FAQs. It’s located in the Help & Support section of Investor Hub.
Finally, the My Portfolio item in the main left sidebar of the Investor Hub is now a drop-down menu that gives you direct access to everything in one click. Your personal portfolios are grouped by type: My Portfolios and Brokerage Accounts (Plaid-connected). The Model Portfolios section links directly to each AAII model portfolio. Also, the Manage section at the bottom of the list includes quick links to the Manage Alerts and Manage Custom Views pages. Select the down arrow to expand each item on the menu.
If you haven’t already started taking advantage of the AAII Investor Hub, we encourage you to do so today. The new changes make My Portfolio even easier to use and more time-saving.
