I am excited to announce that this past Saturday, we successfully rolled out our new A+ Investor Portfolio Insights email.
The weekly Saturday Portfolio Insights email offers a combined snapshot of all the portfolios you have set up in My Portfolio. The email highlights strong and weak stock, fund and ETF performers in your portfolios, along with showing you those stocks that had been added to or fallen off of the passing company lists of any AAII stock screening strategies you track.
Last Monday’s Making the Grade email touched on the majority of the sections in the Insights email, which you can read here. However, we also glossed over a couple of sections so we could devote more time to them this week—specifically, the “My Stocks Passing Any Screens” feature and My Stock Strategies.
As part of the My Holdings at a Glance section of the Portfolio Insights email, you can see how many stocks that you track with My Portfolio pass any of the 60-plus screening strategies AAII follows:
In this example, 24 of the stocks tracked in any of the portfolios this user has created using My Portfolio pass one or more of the AAII stock screening strategies.
Clicking on the View All link for this statistic takes you to a new table we have created within My Screens that lists the stocks you track that pass at least one of AAII’s stock screens:
This table is updated daily through the close of the previous trading day and is fully sortable. (You can also access the My Stocks Passing Any Screens list through the My Screens link in the Stocks area of AAII.com.)
The table shows the relevant stocks you track, which links to their Stock Evaluator page for further analysis. The table also reports how many different AAII screens each stock passes and the names of those screens linked to more about the strategy. Lastly, you can see how many of your portfolios the stock is held in and the linked names of those portfolios.
In this example, D.R. Horton Inc. (DHI) passes seven AAII stock screens as of the close on March 5, 2020:
Clicking on any of the screening strategy names will take you to that strategy, where you can see its long-term performance, current list of passing companies and a detailed description of the strategy:
Did you know you can favorite specific screening strategies at AAII.com?
In our example above, D.R. Horton passed, among others, the O’Shaughnessy Growth Market Leaders screen. If you wish to easily access the companies passing this strategy, you have a couple of options. From the “My Stocks Passing Any Screens” table, you can click on the star icon to the left of any strategy name to favorite it:
Once you have favorited one or more AAII stock screens, the My Screens area lists all of the stocks passing your favorite screens as of the previous trading day’s close with select data (Stocks Passing My Screens tab) as well as their A+ Stock Grades (Grades tab):
You can also favorite AAII stock screens from the Screen Power Rankings area, where you can rank all the AAII screening strategies (or only those that are guru or factor screening strategies) based on performance through the previous month-end:
Once again, click the star icon, this time to the right of the strategy name, to favorite it. Any screen with a yellow star next to its name throughout the AAII website is one of your favorited strategies.
Once you have favorited any of AAII’s stock screening strategies, there is a section of the Insights email that lists the stocks that have been added to or dropped from the passing company lists of those favorited screens since the end of last week.
The My Stock Strategies section of the email lists stocks that are new to the passing company lists of any AAII screening strategies you have favorited compared to the close of the previous week:
Clicking on the tickers of any of these stocks will take you to their respective Stock Evaluator page, and from there you can add them to a current or new portfolio to track them going forward.
I encourage you to set aside some time today to investigate the Guru and Factor strategies that are in our library. Also, remember that as an A+ Investor, you have access to daily updates of the screening results for all the AAII screening strategies.
