Biography:
Sam Levine, CFA, CMT, is a financial analyst at AAII, where he serves as the lead editor for the VMQ Stocks portfolio and contributes to the AAII Journal. He has over three decades of experience in the investing and investment education fields.
Levine began his career as a broker trainee at Shearson Lehman Brothers and has since worked as an investment broker, adviser, trust portfolio manager, investing writer and adjunct finance faculty at Wayne State University’s business school. Prior to joining AAII, he was a contributing editor to BetterInvesting Magazine.
Levine served two terms on the board of directors of the CMT Association and was honored by former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman Christopher Cox at the New York Society of Securities Analysts (now the CFA Society New York) for his efforts mentoring CFA candidates in the New York area. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CMT Association.
Levine holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations. He also earned a master’s degree in personal financial planning from the College for Financial Planning and a bachelor’s degree with honors in psychology from Stony Brook University. In his off hours, he plays lead guitar in Merge, a Detroit-based cover band.
